In higher ritualism, it is the purpose of the ritual to create and program thoughtforms. These are spiritual invocations/creations of living energy. Whether done consciously or unknowingly, is the difference in control.
I think back to a lot of 'prayer meetings' and church sessions that invoke a common thought process and embue this process with the energy and purpose of communal thought through a common ritual such as communion, sing-alongs, common thoughts over spiritual subjects (powerful preaching), etc. In most cases these create thoughtforms whose energy and sole purpose is to make spiritual contact with the worshippers. This they do and their energy disperses to the members and the building in which they worship, so in a way they are creating their own holy spirit and being touched by that spirit as a community. This is what makes such gatherings powerful draws to people searching for a true experience. This is also how many prayer groups get results as they are communally invoking a thoughtform with a purpose that transcends the spirtitual to the material. This is important for any higher practitioner to understand, Christian or other for the simple purpose of understanding the powers that manifest, how they are manifested, and how to work with them.
With them! Yes, that is what I meant to say. Most responsible practitioners are all working for the same greater good whether they be Christian or not. There are no enemies here. Where the caution must be is how the energy thoughtform is directed. Once you realize it is a thoughtform, you may certainly redirect the energy and use the good intention programmed in to it to greater purpose without harm to any. A practitioner does this by knowing the power over the spiritual attempt to manifest the physical. The physical being the world of matter or the realm of Yaltaboath and the spiritual being the realm of Sophia if we are to use the terms of the Apocrypha. In Celtic terms this would be physical as the realm of Tethra and spiritual as the realm of Tara with Baylor/Cernunos and Brigit/Etienne respectively. By invoking these powers you then have control over the manifestation of the thoughtform and can 'reprogram' its purpose so to speak. This also goes for hostile thoughtforms although preventing their manifestation can be much trickier prior to redirecting their energies. Wards are best to delay manifestation or redirect without conscious manipulation. More on this later, but for now, a simple mirror ward suffices to either bounce back, or trap indefinitely depending on how the ward is constructed.
What I really want to delve in to is the invocations of powers according to the Apocrypha of John. What I find thoroughly fascinating is how each is associated with a named Angel or Demon of Yaltaboath (the physical associated with its spiritual properties) and the assertion that the whole is indeed greater than the sum of its parts.
For many practitioners, the significance of the number 5 is well known. It is not surprising then that the original powers invoked in the Apocrypha are 5 aeons:
"This is the pentad of the aeons of the Father, which is the first man, the image of the invisible Spirit; it is the forethought, which Barbelo, and the thought, and the foreknowledge, and the indestructibility, and the eternal life, and the truth. This is the androgynous pentad of the aeons, which is the decad of the aeons, which is the Father."
This is, in all actuality, the guide of invocation, and the order in which the invocation should take place in order to create a thoughtform. Forethought, planning of the actual purpose of the form. Thought, consideration of all aspects of why and how. Foreknowledge, the wisdom of the ages that has been passed down to the practitioner allowing them to see why this thoughtform is necessary. Indestructibility, the purity of purpose that allows the creation of the thoughtform. Eternal life, the spiritual being of energy. Truth, the purpose made manifest in purity.
Now here is where it gets really interesting and very speicific (taken from the interpretation/translation of Frederick Wisse):
And grace belongs to the light-aeon Armozel, which is the first angel. And there are three other aeons with this aeon: grace, truth, and form. And the second light (is) Oriel, who has been placed over the second aeon. And there are three other aeons with him: conception, perception, and memory. And the third light is Daveithai, who has been placed over the third aeon. And there are three other aeons with him: understanding, love, and idea. And the fourth aeon was placed over the fourth light Eleleth. And there are three other aeons with him: perfection, peace, and wisdom. These are the four lights which attend the divine Autogenes, (and) these are the twelve aeons which attend the son of the mighty one, the Autogenes, the Christ, through the will and the gift of the invisible Spirit. And the twelve aeons belong to the son of the Autogenes. And all things were established by the will of the holy Spirit through the Autogenes.
Armozel is the first light aeon and with him he has three powers, or sub-angels Grace, Truth and Form.
Oriel is the second light aeon and he has three powers: Conception, Perception and Memory
Daveithai is the third light aeon and his three powers are: Understanding, Love and Idea.
Eleleth is the fourth light aeon and his powers are: Perfection, Peace, and Wisdom.
A quatrain of threes and invocations of powers by name which brings to us 12 powers and the name invocations associated with them. To any Celtic practitioner, this is a very very significant number/mathematical numerology and sound/sonic invocation. These names and invocations can be used to give your thoughtforms purpose according to their alignment, or if you are taking control of a thoughtform created in the manner and purpose of the Christian creation, these names give you power over them according to their alignment.
Next I'll cover the Christ figure, where he stands in this guide to invocation, his origin and what he created and ordered as well as the evil one, where he came from, where he dwells and what he created and why these things are significant and not to be adversaries but allies.
If nothing else, this should show the practitioner that our core beliefs are not so very different, and that the machinations are incredibly similar and can be a great helper in the quest for enlightenment/knowledge.
